1997 World Championship MS Final - Sun Jun v Peter Rasmussen - Sun Jun playing pretty much with just one leg.

This has to be one of my most memorable matches, this is a snippet of the 2hr4min epic (I have included links to more snippets below). Rasmussen's patient strategy was designed to move and work Sun Jun around the court, but it didn't pay immediate dividends as the gritty Chinese dug in and snatched the first game 17-16. Rasmussen again moved and pushed Sun Jun around the court in the second, but again Sun would not give in and built up an imposing 13-6 lead in the second game. Thinking he had weathered the storm, Sun invested all his energy to kill off the match, but Rasmussen, riding the wave of crowd support, clawed back and took the second 13-18. Already a classic, the match took a controversial turn. Sun had looked in physical trouble during the five minute interval, and as his muscles began to cramp in the third game he was allowed long recovery periods by the umpire to the surprise of the crowd. With nothing to lose, the injured Sun looked for desperate early kills, and found Rasmussen unable to adapt to this changing scenario. Rasmussen cleared his head, changed his plan, and sealed the 198 rally-long match 10-15 in the third.
